HARALD
BackRhapsody in blue - Georges Gershwin
Monarchy is an absurdity. I grew up with that idea. Then came the European elections. Then came the dissolution. Then came the chaos. Then came the unrestrained loathing. No one is trying to be king here—the seat is already taken. Not over there. Swayed by messages of hate, Someone wakes us up here. Someone brings us together here. Someone gives us hope here. Not over there. This portrait. This is not a king. This is a man. This portrait. It is today, but it is also 2016. When two countries stood on the same podium in Oslo. When a speech rekindled many people. This portrait. It is also a piece of music. A music that blends styles, cultures, continents, histories. A music that brings people together. A music that laughs and chatters. Avec élégance et beaucoup de générosité. Photograph: Vidar Ruud / NTB scanpix, Oslo, 2016
